Granite Cremation Plaque

Inscribed black granite stone cremation plaques and pet headstones

George's owners described a beautiful horse whose life was cut short in a road accident. They had had him cremated and his ashes were scattered on the land near his stable. They asked us to help design and supply the Black Granite Plaque that they installed close to his stable.

Polished black granite

Black granite is a traditional memorial stone. The colour is closely associated with mourning and the choice reflects the families feeling of grief at the loss. George's owners provided the words they wanted inscribed into the polished stone face, which are gilded.

Polished black granite also has the advantage of retaining its appearance with minimal maintenance as it resists staining and discolouration from weathering and lichen.

The colour, of this particular stone is 'Absolute black', the highest quality colouration, free from marbling or surface blemish. Diamond polishing produced the deep black mirror finish. Sometimes stone edges and engravings are left unpolished so the smooth, matt, dark grey contrasts the black gloss face.

The letters inscribed in a serif capital font are gilded using 23-carat gold leaf. The stone dimensions are 1000mm x 800mm x 50mm (height x width x depth).

Granite memorials whether polished, part polished, honed or with rustic finish are available in other natural colours including: white, black, dark grey, light grey, blue, red and green. We also use a wide variety of other natural stones such as limestone, sandstone and marble to make memorials.
