Stone Tennis Ball Pet Memorial

Custom designed dog memorial suitable for use as a private headstone

The 7" tennis ball stone memorial is a personal tribute to a much-loved pet dog called Jessie.

The stone ball is a unique design created with the owners of Jessie. The memorial represents the tennis ball she often had in her mouth, ever playful and ready to play fetch, even as she grew older.

When Jessie finally passed away, her owners who live in Derbyshire searched the web and contacted us after having found only cheaper, inferior concrete versions for sale. We discussed the design options with them and they asked us to make this Stone Tennis Ball and with their personal message.

Turned Yorkstone

The ball from turned Yorkstone an ideal stone for turning a sphere, as it is hard with no laminated beds. York stone is hardwearing and durable in exposed positions such as a garden and it takes a carved inscription well. The finished stone will age gracefully without deterioration. Natural stone ages and weathers well and takes on a mature look over time.

The 20-letter message inscribed has a black coloured base providing contrast against the light grey of the stone. Engraved green banding, as you may find on an actual tennis ball helps to frame the message and accentuates the stones roundness, as does the positioning of the letters.

Freestanding memorials are perfectly suited for private spaces such as gardens, as a marker of where cremated ashes are scattered, a headstone where a pet has been laid to rest, positioned in such a way as to be visible from inside, or perhaps in a quiet place in a garden for remembrance. Because small memorials are portable, they may always provide a lasting reminder of times and memories together.

Cost

The cost of the ball (approx £230) includes the York stone piece and its turning to 175mm diameter, the 20 letters engraving and outline, and the delivery. Prices for similar designs will vary, depending on the inscription.

The picture shows the stone in a dynamic garden environment, where a few spots of rain have fallen on the stone surface, it shows the interesting colouration changes that occur on stone when outdoors.
